Consistent attendance at your scheduled weekly private lesson is required.
NO CUTS ARE ALLOWED. (A "cut" is an unexcused absence.)
Missed Lessons: In the event the student has to miss a lesson
and it cannot be justified as an "excused" absence, the final
letter grade will be lowered by one letter for each cut up to 3 cuts.
The 4th cut will result in an automatic WF.
Rescheduling Missed Lessons: Lessons cannot be rescheduled except
under the most extenuating circumstances. If a rescheduled lesson is
arranged and the student misses the RESCHEDULED LESSON for any reason,
it cannot be made up and will result in F for that week's grade.
Excuses for Absences: To be excused for a missed lesson so that
it will not affect your final grade, ALL absences must be accompanied
by an official excuse. Belmont University has official forms for excused
absences and these are obtained from the appropriate person: school
nurse, your ensemble director, etc. Absences not accompanied by an official
excuse will not be allowed to be made up and will be treated as a cut
and result in an F for the weekly grade. Conflict or change of work
schedule (including gigs, auditions, etc.) will not constitute a legitimate
excuse.
Making Up Missed Lessons: Missed lessons which are excused must
be made up within one week of the absence or the weekly grade
for that absence will automatically convert to F. It is the responsibility
of the student to arrange for make-up lessons.
