Thomas Ken
Thomas Ken (1637 -1711) is important in the history of English Hymnody for writing the well-known DOXOLOGY:
In 1647, Thomas Ken wrote three hymns which he appended to a collection of prayers "for the use of the Scholars of Winchester College." However, only two have survived into modern usage:
All three hymns have the same final stanza: "Praise God form whom all blessings flow; praise Him all creatures here below, praise Him above y'Angelic host, praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost." Ken later changed "y'Angelic" to "heavenly." Visit some sites devoted to George Wither: |
